Etidal Arbach-L’Heureux has been toying with the ideas behind this second solo exhibit since 1996, when she came across a book about ancient alphabets. Deeply moved by these age-old symbols and letters, she began to reflect upon the evolution of writting. “This concept creates a real link between the past and the origins of writing, and the present with its technological advances, which means that I can write to anyone, anywhere in the world, in real time, via the Internet.” But what was even more appealing to the artist was the notion of being linked, by this evolution, to the future and to a potential exploration of the universe, communicating with our neighbours “ Out there”. Etidal’s curiosity in the face of the Unknown is thus also at work in these new pictures.
As a further link, Etidal has chosen to use monotype and monoprint to highlight the physical origins of writing as the basis of her concept of the evolution from past to future.

Les idées qui motivent cette deuxième exposition mijotent depuis 1996 quand l’artiste a découvert un livre au sujet des anciens alphabets. Vivement touchée par ces vieux symboles et lettres, elle a commencé à réfléchir sur l’évolution de l’écriture. « Ce concept me relie au passé, aux origines, ainsi qu’au présent avec l’évolution de l’écriture par le biais de la technologie à un tel point où je peux communiquer avec des gens partout au monde, en temps direct, par Internet. » Mais ce qui est encore plus intéressant pour l’artiste, c’est de voir comment cette idée du progrès des écritures lui donne accès à l’avenir et à une future exploration de l’univers en communiquant avec nos voisins de l’au-delà. Sa curiosité face à l’Inconnu est ainsi à l’oeuvre dans ces nouvelles créations.
Etidal Arbach-L’Heureux favorise les techniques monotype et monoprint pour souligner les origines physiques de l’écriture comme base de sa conception de l’évolution du passé à l’avenir.
